Monday Meditation: Know your worth

1 Jul

This past weekend, Mark and I went on a New York City adventure so he could participate in a Photo Walk event. As we walked around, we saw the city in a way we never had before. This time, NYC surprised me when I took a closer look. I stumbled upon several graffiti messages that were about spreading positivity. These simple messages touched my heart and I immediately felt compelled to spread the word.

You are valuable, right here, right now – just the way you are. Every day, you are making a mark on the world with your presence simply by being in it. Show your body, heart, and mind the love and respect they deserve. Loving yourself is the foundation for strong, healthy relationships and the fuel for reaching goals.

In life and in running, we are prone to comparisons. How we’re measuring up to others can become a constant inner dialogue emphasizing our shortfalls. However, there is no need to strive for some ideal because perfection is an illusion. Put an end to self-criticism and judgment.  Embrace your quirks and imperfections and be the best version of you you know how to be. If you are trying to make a change, do it for you. Don’t allow anyone else to define your worth.

Know your worth. You are enough.

You know, this morning an article popped up on my facebook feed and I think that it is a true eye opener! And while I know you are not a mom yet, I am sure you may be able to relate to it on some level:

What a great article! Thanks for sharing. Knowing your worth and a healthy body image are definitely important values to pass on.
